Overview
Energy industry deal-making started off with a bang this year with several announced transactions. Although the U.S. utility industry has been viewed as ripe for consolidation for quite some time, it is beginning, once again, to gain the momentum that was building in 2008 – before the economic recession put a damper on the markets.
The pressure is mounting on electric utilities to meet demand with cleaner fuels, while still living up to shareholders' growth expectations. According to SNL Financial data, 32 deals involving whole companies, assets and power plants valued at about $36.5 billion are currently in the works.
Join our panel of experts as they discuss how companies are weighing the buy-versus-build decisions from both a financial and strategic position, and the factors that are impacting asset valuations.
