Panelists
Jeffrey Berg Senior Vice President and Regional Credit Officer, Moody’s Investors
Service
As Group Credit Officer, Jeff has responsibility for monitoring ratings quality as well as assisting in the development and implementation of rating methodologies and practices across all insurance groups.
Jeff joined Moody's in 2003 as the accounting specialist supporting the insurance sectors and was one of the founding members of Moody's Accounting Specialists Group, whose role is to also publish research on complex reporting topics. In 2004, Jeff changed his primarily role to that of a fundamental credit analyst within the US property and casualty insurance team.
Prior to joining Moody's, Jeff spent 12 years in public accounting, most recently with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a Senior Manager in the Insurance Audit Practice in New York City. Jeff's previous experience included a tour in the Accounting Consulting Services Group of PwC's National Office. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated magna cum laude from Skidmore College in New York.
Jukka Lipponen, CFA President, Independent Insurance Analysts LLC
Jukka Lipponen, of Independent Insurance Analysts, is an analyst, investment
banker and executive with more than 20 years of experience in insurance and
financial services. He currently provides independent investment analysis and
credit research on life and P&C companies to institutional investors, as well as
buyers and distributors of insurance company products.
Mr. Lipponen's prior positions include Senior Vice President at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and President and Managing Director at The Townsend & Schupp Company. He is a CFA charter holder and holds a BBA and MBA from Florida Atlantic University.
John Pruitt Partner, Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP
John is co-chair of Dewey & LeBoeuf's Insurance Regulatory Department where his experience includes insurance company acquisitions and restructurings, formation and licensing of insurance companies and producers, advice and assistance on insurance Holding Company Act compliance (including multistate Form A filings), purchases and sales of specific blocks of business, insurance insolvency proceedings, formation and licensing of managing general agencies and negotiation of agency agreements, and general advice on compliance with insurance laws and regulations.
In addition, he has been extensively involved over the years in the review, negotiation, and drafting of reinsurance agreements and has advised clients and drafted documentation in connection with structured insurance programs. John has also advised and assisted clients with the drafting of various commercial property and casualty policy forms, including general liability, directors and officers liability, professional errors and omissions, and property forms. In recent years, he has been actively involved in internal investigations and regulatory enforcement actions relating to a variety of matters, including relating to broker compensation practices, finite risk insurance and reinsurance and sales and marketing practices.
